Description

Ramadevi parents are living in a small village near Kurnool. They have five girl children and they hardly get any work in the village. There are limited opportunities in the village, like, the mines work, which is available for the truckers and drivers. Most of the families migrated to other towns. Her father works as daily wage labour in the mines. With disregard to a girl child and obsessive need for a male child, her mother gave birth to the 5 girls and even underwent 2 times abortion. Due to this, she fell ill and also got mentally disordered. Finally, she gave birth to a male child. Parents were not able to provide education support to their children. Looking at the girls’ keen interest and abilities at studies a Community elder joined Ramadevi in the SERUDS orphanage centre.

Impact

As a young girl, Ramadevi thought she must not be a burden to her parents. At that time the community elder told about Joy Home. She said comparing to other homes it is so good the organizer is providing all sorts of facilities to the members of the home. She said she wants to study well so that she can get a job. So that she can feed her parents in old age.

When asked about what she likes about JOY HOME she says, She likes the Food, playing Sports like a shuttle, having extracurricular activities like dance classes, computer training. She is a shy and intelligent girl. She wants to become an Engineer and study computers. She is an EAMCET and JEE aspirant who dreams big.
