Have you spared a thought as to how abandoned poor single women survive, how do they get food and shelter for the cold nights? Most sleep in pavements and survive on alms, neglected by their family.
If a poor and destitute old person is provided at least one wholesome meal in a day, she has a chance to face the challenges of her hard life.
In our Free Food Kitchen for Poor Women, with our limited resources, we provide nutritious midday meals to 30 poor old women from slums in Budhavarapeta, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh every day.
A Contribution of only Rs. 2750 (USD40) will provide nutritious and hot meal to 30 Elders
You may choose to sponsor mid-day meals for one month, or any amount you desire.
You can sponsor clothes, blankets, toiletries, sweaters for distribution
You can contribute food material like rice, dal, vegetables
Sponsor meals to poor elderly people on behalf of someone, birthday gift, on the occasion of wedding anniversary, ceremony of some one.
Donation of Rs 2500 will cover cost of one meal daily for one elder for one month.
She is currently deserted and living in a small hut. She has two sons who don’t support her living and left her alone after their marriage. She used to run a bullock cart along with her husband. After her husband’s accidental death, her son deserted her and left alone.
Due to age constraint and ill health, she is not able to work anywhere and support herself. She needs love, care and proper support to lead the rest of life with dignity
She led her entire life in Basavani system as part of their traditional customs. She was forced into this custom by her mother. Currently deserted and living in a small hut. She had one son who died of AIDS and one daughter attempted suicide by lighting herself on fire with kerosene.
Due to age constraint and ill health, she is not able to work anywhere and support her family.
SERUDS launched Happy Old Age Home in January 2012 for abandoned & destitute women in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh,
Old Age Home is fully free and funded solely through donations. Home shelters 30 grannies at present.
Since 2012, 90 elders have called it their home during the last stage of their lives.
