 2009 Andhra Floods
SERUDS has initiated assisting the flood affected communities in Kurnool and Mahabub Nagar Districts of Andhra Pradesh. |
 SERUDS receives Flood-2009 Seva Award’
Mr. G.Mallikarjuna, President of SERUDS received ‘Flood-2009 Seva Award’ from His Excellency Governor of A.P., Mr. E.S.L. Narasimhan Wednesday, 10.2.2010 . ‘SERUDS’ distributed relief material, clothes, utensils to 7500 families of victims in the flood- affected areas of Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh State.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said if everyone could extend a helping hand to suffering persons, it would pave the way for a better, peaceful and happier society.

OBJECTIVES |
|
- To empower women and promote SHGs/ CBOs
- To empower youth and provide vocational/ skill development trainings for sustainable livelihoods.

To create awareness on panchayat raj institutions and build capacities of SC, ST Women elected representatives of local self government.

To undertake forest based activities and provide sustainable livelihoods to forest-dwellers and tribals.

To promote and propagate non conventional energy sources.

To rehabilitate child labour and sensitize children on their rights

To sensitize public on health, sanitation, education, environment, consumer rights, road safety and other social issues.

Our Achievements in Year 2009.
- Baseline survey on natural and human resources was conducted in 6 villages
- 110 women, youth and general public were sensitized on environment protection.
- 93 women of slums educated on naturopathy awareness
- 374 farmers, agriculture labour, women, children, youth were sensitized on affects of climate change.
- WASH campaign conducted in 18 villages of Kadapa, Kurnool and Anathapur districts
- 5 bio gas plants were constructed for 5 dalit women
- 10 women beneficiaries were trained in LED & Solar Systems
- 20 women beneficiaries were trained in maintenance & repairing of LPG stoves
- 52 rural women were sensitized on energy conservation
- 470 consumers were educated on consumer rights & consumer courts.
- 120 truckers and commercial sex workers were enlightened on HIV/ AIDS
- Awareness on road safety was provided to 150 drivers and general public
- 110 tribals were educated on health and sanitation.
- 45 street children were mainstreamed.
- 180 victims of dalit and human rights atrocities were counseled and supported.
- 410 people were sensitized on voter awareness and PRIs.
- 450 farmers were educated on sustainable agriculture and water harvesting methods.
- A team of 16 persons of SERUDS evacuated hundreds of people particularly of women and children, who strucked in flood waters.
- 70 persons were rescued from the floods
- Provided immediate relief like food pockets, water and milk to 700 persons
- Provided relief material like clothes, blankets, utensils and food stuffs to 7500 flood victim families.
- Constructed 5 huts to flood victims, whose huts have washed away in recent floods.
- Educational material and clothes was distributed to 450 school children.
