HIV AIDS Projects in India

One of our objectives is to contribute towards minimizing human suffering in the fields of health, STIs / AIDS, domestic violence, through awareness programmes, treatment and referrals and counseling to facilitate generation of options for crisis resolution. We also deal with issues of human rights violations through advocacy and free legal aid. Our Goal is to fulfill our objective of contributing towards minimizing human suffering, especially where health is concerned. To achieve this, we Endeavour to pay more attention to health facilities for vulnerable population. We concentrate mainly on HIV/AIDS & STIs awareness programmes so that this epidemic can be controlled and the incidence of HIV infections is minimized.

One of the major problems being faced by the community. Therefore we have conducted the awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS among truckers and commercial sex workers on NH7 and NH18. The sensitization campaigns also conducted for women particularly pregnant, youth, school students in 20 different slums and villages of Kurnool, Kallur, Yemmiganur and Adoni Mandals of Kurnool Distrcit, Andhra Pradesh, India from June 2010 to October 2010. This cruel disease has already been entered in our service area and creating panic and havoc among the different sections of people. Thus, we have conducted this resourceful program with medical experts on national highways as well as in different villages. The medical experts were explained about this cruel disease and personal hygiene deeply and what are those preventive methods to be adopted. About 250 truckers, 270 commercial sex workers, 250 women, 700 youth, 570 students were enlightened from this advocacy program. The truckers motivated to use condoms while in the sexual activities with unknown persons and educated on safe sex methods. They are motivated to have HIV test. There is no medicine for AIDS, but can be prevented. Thus every one should prevent & control the HIV/ AIDS. If you would like to donate our cause, please do so at http://serudsindia.org/How-to-Donate-to-SERUDS.php

Status of old age people:
Ironically as may it sound, longevity is a blessing but age is curse. While Scientist and Doctors consistently try to prolong life, societies shun these very being to whom the modern medicine helps live longer. Through out the country the elderly persons are ignored, not given their rights, abused and even abandoned or killed. Often, their special needs overlooked. They have no access to health care and basic welfare needs. And it is not exactly rare to find rich young men or women turning into paupers and living in abject penury, their wealth and property lost or taken away through meanest and foal means. A survey “The state of world’s old age people 2002” across 32 nations found these people in a miserable plight, humiliated, unhappy and they are leading a degrading existence.

Midday meal to the oldage persons at our centre running by SERUDS, a Charity in India:

Therefore, we, the executive committee members have decided to extend possible assistance to keep the old people happy in some extent on humanitarian grounds. We are supplying every day one time midday meal includes Cooked Steamed Rice, Dal, Fresh Vegetables Curry, Sambar, Papad, Egg, Fresh Fruits, Curd, Butter Milk to 20 elderly persons age between 60 to 90yrs, who are being neglected and rejected by their own kin and kith. These poor aged people are spending their most of the time in temple, grave yards, verandas of community hall and church yards. In this critical juncture, our volunteers identified and brought to our non-profit organization. Further we have conducted survey and collected their case studies and providing midday meal to these old age persons. Since then, every day we are providing one time midday meal to the 20 older persons with the support from individual philanthropists, local donations and corporate social responsibility. Some of the volunteers who have realization about their living conditions offer commodities and old clothes to these destitute senior citizens.

If you would like wish to make contribution as donation to old age persons midday meal, please do so at http://www.serudsindia.org/How-to-Donate-to-SERUDS.php

Hence we appeal and supplicate the generous volunteer for their generous donation for this noble mission.
